Aion 2 Just Hit 171K Concurrent on Steam - and Took Global Top Sellers
NC's MMORPG early access peaked at 171,530 Steam players, #1 Top Sellers in 12 countries. 1.3M wishlists. Free-to-play opens October 5.
Paid early access. One night. Chart ownership.
Aion 2 from NC (NCSoft) opened global Founder’s Pack access on September 30 and immediately punched 171,530 concurrent players on Steam - then parked at #1 on the global Top Sellers chart. It also ranked first in revenue in 12 countries including the US, France, Germany, Spain, and Brazil. Pre-launch wishlists topped 1.3 million.
As of October 1, more than 100,000 were still online on Steam alone. That number does not include PURPLE, NC’s own launcher - so the real total is higher.
What you are buying
Early access is for Founder’s Pack buyers only - a five-day head start before the free-to-play launch on October 5.
- Standard - $24.99
- Deluxe - $49.99
- Ultimate - $99.99
All tiers get the same five days. Skins and extras scale with the price. Servers: North America, South America, Europe, Japan. Eight languages.
Why the number is loud
171K concurrent on a paid window means the F2P day could go louder - or get messy with queues. Steam Top Sellers is a revenue chart, so Founder’s Packs are literally buying the #1 slot right now. Still: 1.3M wishlists and a six-figure concurrent before free weekend energy is a statement that Western MMO hunger is not dead.
Unreal Engine 5. A world pitched as 36× the original. Flight combat as the hook. Korea and Taiwan already had it; this is the NA/EU push.
The magazine read
171K concurrent. #1 Steam sellers. Free on Oct 5. Aion 2 just bought the chart with Founder’s Packs - next test is whether freeloaders stick.
