Brighton Just Ended Arsenal's Perfect Run - 3-0, and It Was Not Close

Champions are supposed to look annoyed when they lose. Arsenal looked confused.

Brighton beat them 3-0 at the Amex on September 19. Pascal Gross from the edge of the box, in off the post. Charalambos Kostoulas before the break. Chema Andres headed the third twelve minutes into the second half. Mikel Arteta did not make a single change at half-time. The response never arrived.

Why this one stings

Nine straight Premier League wins. Seven wins in all competitions to open the season. Then a Saturday where the ball would not sit still and Brighton treated the champions like a training cone. Arsenal drop to second on 12 points. Manchester City spent Sunday going top. Brighton climb to third.

The magazine read

Perfect start, meet the seagulls. Arteta has a film to rewatch. The title race just got a plot twist.
