Night City Is Back on Netflix, and the Game Gets a Free Update Two Days Later

Four years after the first anime sent people back into Cyberpunk 2077, Night City gets another ten episodes and the game gets another free patch to match.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is on Netflix as of October 20, all episodes at once. CD Projekt and TRIGGER built a standalone season around a new cast: a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent and a Snake Nation netrunner. Kai Ikarashi directs. Kanno Ichigo is lead character designer. Masahiko Otsuka and showrunner Bartosz Sztybor are back. Hugo Award winner is still the byline under the story. The first season is still there if you need the damage report before you start.

The same day, the studio announced the Edgerunners 2 Update, also called Update 2.5. It lands October 22 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 a little later. CD Projekt says the free patch brings anime-inspired items and other features. The detailed look is set for a REDstreams episode on October 21, then the patch notes. Treat the trailer promises as soft until that list is up.

This is the studio’s preferred loop. Edgerunners pushed game sales for months after 2022. Co-CEO Michal Nowakowski said last week the movie with Paramount will not copy the game’s plot one to one, and that the anime is meant to bring new viewers into 2077. Today is the test of that sentence. Ten episodes are already on the service. The patch is two days out. The only question left is how many people finish the season and then open the launcher.
