Faker Just Stacked Back-to-Back Asian Games Gold - Korea Swept Taiwan 3-0
South Korea's LoL squad led by Lee Sang-hyeok took a second straight Asian Games gold in Nagoya, beating Chinese Taipei in the final. At 30, Faker says passion - not age - decides retirement.
Gold again. Same king. Different Games.
South Korea’s League of Legends team - headlined by Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok - beat Chinese Taipei 3-0 in Friday’s final at Aichi Sky Expo and locked a second straight Asian Games gold, following Hangzhou 2022. On Saturday, October 3, the squad faced the press at Korea House in Nagoya with medals still warm.
The roster that rolled the Asiad
The six-man LCK-stacked squad swept its group earlier in the week, then closed the tournament without dropping a map in the final. Faker, now 30, is on his third Asian Games run and remains the most decorated player in LoL history - six Worlds titles among eleven international crowns.
At the medalists’ conference he kept it simple: winning another Asian Games gold felt meaningful, and he was happy to bring joy to fans. On retirement talk that always follows veterans: “I don’t think age has much to do with retirement. How long you can sustain your passion is what determines when you retire. So I think I can definitely keep going for longer.”
Why it travels
Esports as a medal sport is still new enough that every gold makes headlines outside the ranked queue. Faker winning on the Olympic-adjacent stage is the crossover story - the guy who already owns Worlds now owns another continental medal while the OCA debates the future of esports on the Asian Games program.

3-0 final. Back-to-back gold. Thirty years old and still not talking exit. Faker just reminded the Asiad that mid lane still has a king.
