Robert Pattinson Played Chris Hansen and Made $19M on a $15M Budget
A24's Primetime: Pattinson as To Catch a Predator host. $19.2M opening, third-best A24 debut ever. Cheap, weird, Gen Z bait. Brad Pitt's $82M wilderness movie barely beat it.
The strangest flex of the weekend belonged to a fake Dateline host.
Primetime - Robert Pattinson as a Chris Hansen / To Catch a Predator style true-crime TV hunter - opened to $19.2 million on a $15 million budget for A24. Fourth place overall, behind Endgame Encore, Resident Evil, and Brad Pitt’s Heart of the Beast ($20M on an $82M production). Math says Pattinson won the efficiency contest by a mile.
Why people showed up
Exit polls: Pattinson was the No. 1 reason for the ticket. Venice buzz. Grainy 4:3 vibes. Gen Z who grew up on YouTube predator stings treating the movie like a haunted artifact. It is already A24’s third-best opening ever - behind Backrooms and Civil War, ahead of Marty Supreme.
Pattinson’s 2026 is ridiculous: The Drama, The Odyssey, this, Dune: Part III still coming. Twilight kid to theatrical cheat code.

$15M movie. Nearly $20M weekend. Predator TV as horror-comedy. Pattinson still cannot miss.
