Zach Cregger's Resident Evil Is Eating the Weekend Alive
Sony's RE reboot opens Sep 18 weekend after glowing word-of-mouth. Cregger of Barbarian and Weapons. Tracking $40-50M. Raccoon City is suddenly a destination again.
Horror finally got its prestige bruiser back in the theater lobby.
Zach Cregger - the guy who turned Barbarian into a conversation and Weapons into a $270M global flex - brings Resident Evil back to the big screen the weekend of September 18. Not another Milla runway sequel. A proper reboot with early reviews and word-of-mouth that made tracking climb toward $40-50 million.
Why people actually care
Because Capcom adaptations have been a coin flip for twenty years, and Cregger is the rare director who makes studios look smart for trusting weird. Austin Abrams in Raccoon City. Infected diving off rooftops. Blood by the gallon. The State of Play clip already did the marketing homework.
If it lands, the franchise gets a second life that Welcome to Raccoon City never earned. If it overperforms, September stops being a dead zone.

New RE. New director. Old zombies. Fresh fear. Buy a ticket before the queue grows teeth.
