Spider-Man: Brand New Day Opens to $355M - Second-Biggest US Weekend Ever

Peter Parker forgot who he was. Audiences did not forget how to buy tickets.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened to an estimated $355 million in North America - the second-biggest debut ever, a few million shy of Avengers: Endgame ($357M in 2019). Overseas added about $572 million across more than 73,500 screens. China alone put up roughly $121 million. Worldwide weekend: about $927 million, again second only to Endgame’s $1.2B bow.

The Friday that broke the chart

Opening day in the US and Canada: $168 million from 4,487 theaters - ahead of Endgame’s $157M Friday. Sony had floated a $325M weekend guess. The actual estimate cleared that and knocked No Way Home ($260M) out of the second-place weekend seat.

Behind them on the all-time opening list: Infinity War, Force Awakens, the usual giants. Brand New Day just walked into that room wearing sneakers and left with the silver medal.

Summer needed this

Analysts are already talking about a path past $4 billion for the domestic summer for the first time since Barbenheimer 2023 - and a rare billion-dollar August. Nolan’s Odyssey only fell about 43% in its third weekend and sits near $396M domestic / $911M global, with Korea, China, and Japan still ahead. Spidey did not kill that movie. It stacked on top of it.

MCU fatigue was real on group chats. Opening weekend receipts suggest fatigue loses to a lonely hero, an invisible villain, and a date-night runtime. Final audited numbers land Monday. The story on Sunday night was simple: the web still works.
