The wall finally fell.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached about $936.8 million in North America on its 47th day - nosing past Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.66M), the record that sat untouched for more than a decade. Not adjusted for inflation. Still the line everyone quotes. Still gone.

The run that got him here

Biggest domestic opening weekend ever (~$360M). Records for previews, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, opening week, 10-day haul. Six straight weekends at No. 1 before Practical Magic 2 borrowed the weekly crown. Worldwide already around $2.45 billion - third all-time behind Avatar and Endgame.

Sony and Marvel did not just make a hit. They made a season.

The magazine read
