Nobody Expected This Military Shooter to Sell 1.25 Million Copies in a Day
WARDOGS Early Access: 1.25M copies in under 24 hours, 340k peak players, servers died, queues everywhere. Then reviews climbed back to Mostly Positive. Consoles in 2028.
Some launches whisper. This one kicked the door in and broke the hinges.
WARDOGS - a 100-player tactical military FPS from Bulkhead - sold 1.25 million copies in under 24 hours after its Early Access drop on September 10. Peak concurrent players: about 340,000. Then the servers did what servers always do when surprise hits arrive: they melted.
Chaos, then recovery
Long queues. Offline for hours. Restarts. A hotfix. The Steam rating dipped to Mixed, then climbed back toward Mostly Positive (~70%) once people could actually play. Players are already comparing it to a weird cocktail of Battlefield, Escape from Tarkov, and large-scale sandbox destruction.
Up to 100 players. Gunplay plus building and blowing stuff up. All-out warfare energy. Bulkhead expects Early Access for one to two years. Consoles aimed for 2028.
Why this is fun to watch
Because the internet loves an underdog that suddenly prints money. Because a “tactical military sim” was not on anyone’s September bingo card next to Spidey and Zelda. Because selling a million copies while your servers are on fire is the most 2026 flex imaginable.
WARDOGS did not ask permission. It just showed up and broke Steam.
