Oliver Tree Dies at 32 - Helicopter Collision Over Rio

The internet remembers him by the long-sleeve baseball cap and the track Life Goes On. On Sunday, June 14, life ended for Oliver Tree in Rio de Janeiro.

The American singer and producer died at 32 in an air disaster: two helicopters collided in mid-air over Recreio dos Bandeirantes in the southwest of the city and crashed onto a parking lot. According to police and media reports, 6 people died.

Who was on board:

  • Oliver Tree (Oliver Tree Nickell) - passenger
  • Gaspi (Gaspar Prim) - 23-year-old Argentine YouTuber
  • Lucas Vignale - director
  • Lucas Brito Chaves - music producer
  • pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac - one in each helicopter

Five people were flying in a Eurocopter AS350, the pilot of the second Bell 206 was alone. The collision happened in mid-air. Both aircraft fell onto a parking area - estimates say about 20 cars burned. Some of them were electric vehicles on a dealer lot.

Tree flew to Brazil as part of The World’s First World Tour: a concert in São Paulo was on June 6, then Europe starting July 1 in Lisbon. Now the dates are canceled.

Why even people who never listened to full albums knew him:

  • Miss You with Robin Schulz - years in the charts and on TikTok
  • Jerk - meme culture at full blast
  • Life Goes On - soundtrack to thousands of reels
  • videos with the signature «tree man» look

Brazilian aviation authorities (CENIPA, ANAC) have opened an investigation. The cause of the collision has not been named yet.

Fans are flooding old videos, artists are posting «rest in peace». And again - a tragedy that starts with «two helicopters in the sky over the sea» and ends with fire on a parking lot by the ocean.

Oliver Tree wanted life to go on. His - already ended.
