Call of Duty Just Showed Server Culling - the Anti-Wallhack Tech Hitting MW4 on Oct 23
Infinity Ward's new system withholds enemy location data when you can't see them. Covers every MW4 multiplayer map at launch, plus Warzone and Combat Outpost. Mads Mikkelsen still the villain.
Wallhacks have owned Call of Duty lobbies for years. Activision just put a new wall in front of them.
In an official video dated around October 2–3, Infinity Ward and Activision detailed server culling for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 - a system built so the server simply does not send you enemy location data when that enemy is occluded. If you cannot see them through the wall, your client should not receive the coords either. Cheat software cannot reveal what it never gets.
How it works in plain English
Normally, multiplayer servers share player positions broadly so your game can render the match. Wallhack tools abuse that stream. Server culling adds occlusion layers into MW4 maps so the backend withholds hidden opponents. Legitimate play feels the same. Cheat markets get a new headache.
Activision says the tech covers:
- Every multiplayer map at MW4 launch
- The new Combat Outpost mode (DMZ successor vibe)
- Warzone and future updates
- Alongside existing anti-cheat on all platforms
“Cheat software can’t reveal information it never receives,” the CoD account posted. Expect it to “disturb the cheat marketplace” - not end cheating forever.
Launch context
Modern Warfare 4 hits PC, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 23, 2026. Marketing has also pushed Mads Mikkelsen as a villain and tweaks to 2XP tokens. Fair play is the harder sell - and the one that decides whether the first month feels playable.
The magazine read
Occlusion on the server. No coords through walls. Oct 23. CoD just admitted wallhacks needed a systems answer - not another ban wave alone.
